Dentistry gives me the opportunity to meet new people and help them. I have learned so much from my patients, from how to charge my cell phone to health information, cooking techniques and recipes, and raising children, too. One patient told me “You can give your children too many things, but never too much love,” and that's a message I have taken to heart. — Dr. James Van Biber Jr., DDS
Dr. James Van Biber Jr. loves his work as a dentist. For him, meeting new patients, learning about their lives and passions, helping them to overcome their fears of dentistry, and working with them to develop beautiful smiles, are all rewarding. Each day brings him new opportunities to help his patients: people he's come to care about and whom he considers to be friends, whether he is performing a routine checkup or crafting an all-porcelain crown. It's those relationships that Dr. Van Biber cultivates, where there is open communication, human connection, and laughter, that Dr. Van Biber finds particularly fulfilling. He loves being in a position to help those he cares about.
In addition to his formal education, Dr. Van Biber constantly seeks out opportunities to expand his oral health knowledge and skills, in order to best meet his patients' needs. He attends dental conferences and lectures, and participates in continuing education offerings through the Greater Kansas City Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Van Biber was born and raised in Independence, MO, and still calls the city his home. When he's not busy caring for patients, you will find him keeping active, whether that's bicycling, hiking, playing golf, or working in his garden. He's also a photographer. As part of his belief in sharing his professional skills with the community, Dr. Van Biber volunteers with the Dental for Kids program, providing dental care to the underserved in the community.
