Children's Dentistry for Independence, Blue Springs & Lee's Summit MO

At Dental Excellence, we are focused on providing dental services and procedures to people of all ages. We can provide children’s dentistry services, and we work to create an office environment that is welcoming and comforting for kids. We know that children can have some anxiety about going to the dentist, so we work to make the process fun. Our team are friendly and welcoming, and they can work with you and your child to make the experience of visiting the dentist not so scary!

One of the best ways to help kids get used to the dentist is to have them begin going to the dentist at a young age. If going to the dentist is a regular part of their life for as long as they can remember, they are more likely to feel comfortable and at ease with regular appointments.

Children should see a dentist regularly

Kids are an important part of our family practice. We welcome your kids, and we want you to bring them to see us. We do our best to ensure they will want to come back. A big aspect of children’s dentistry is cultivating trust. We will work hard to earn your trust and the trust of your child.

Children’s primary teeth are an important foundation and building block for their adult smile that will grow in later. This is why it is so essential to make regular dental visits a part of your child's life. Along with seeing us regularly, it is also important to teach your child how to maintain dental hygiene habits in their daily life. This includes showing them how to brush and floss their teeth as they get old enough to do these activities for themselves.

What should you expect from your child’s first visit?

According to the American Dental Association, you should take your child to the dentist around their first birthday. While this might seem early, this is a great chance for the dentist to look at your child’s teeth, mouth, and jaw and make sure that there are no early problems forming.

At this appointment, we will go over important information with you related to diet, bottles, brushing teeth, and fluoride. If your child is able, they can sit in the dentist chair and have their teeth lightly brushed and counted. These early visits are a great way to establish trust and have your child see that being at the dentist doesn’t have to be scary.

What should you do to keep up with ongoing children’s dental care?

As your child keeps coming to our office, they will grow more comfortable with the dentist and our team. We will take time at each appointment and talk to your child. We will make them a part of the process and explain things to them. Bringing your child to see us regularly can help them establish the good habit of seeing a dentist and also keep you up to date on how to maintain their oral health daily.

Also, we can check that everything is in order and healthy and work towards any preventive care that might need to happen.

At home, you can make brushing and flossing a fun part of their day and teach them about diet choices that will be helpful to their teeth.
